Shepherd’s Pie

A warm, hearty classic made with seasoned meat, veggies, and fluffy mashed potatoes — perfect for family dinners or meal prep.


📝 Ingredients (Serves 6):

For the Meat Filling:

  • 1 lb (450g) lean ground lamb or beef

  • 1 small onion, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup frozen peas and carrots

  • ½ cup frozen corn (optional)

  • 2 tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • ½ cup low-sodium beef broth

  • 1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

For the Mashed Potato Topping:

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed

  • ¼ cup low-fat milk

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • Optional: ¼ cup shredded cheese for topping


👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Make the Filling:

    • In a skillet, sauté onions and garlic until soft.

    • Add ground meat and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.

    • Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire, broth, herbs, and vegetables. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.

  2. Make the Mashed Potatoes:

    • Boil potatoes until fork-tender. Drain and mash with milk, butter, salt, and pepper until creamy.

  3. Assemble the Pie:

    • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

    • Spread meat filling in a baking dish. Top evenly with mashed potatoes.

    • Optionally sprinkle with cheese.

  4. Bake:

    • Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden and bubbly.

    • Let cool slightly before serving.
