🍓🍫 Layered Fruit and Chocolate Trifle
Prep Time: 20–30 mins
Chill Time (optional): 1–2 hours
Servings: 8–10
🥄 Ingredients:
Chocolate Layer:
1 box chocolate cake or brownies (prepared and cooled), or 1 store-bought chocolate pound cake
OR substitute with crushed chocolate cookies for a no-bake version
Cream Layer:
2 cups heavy whipping cream or whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
1/4 cup powdered sugar (if whipping cream from scratch)
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pudding Layer:
1 (3.9 oz) box instant chocolate pudding mix
2 cups cold milk
Fruit Layer:
2 cups fresh berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, etc.)
Optional: sliced bananas, kiwi, or cherries
Extras (optional):
Chocolate shavings or chips
Crushed nuts or granola
Mint leaves for garnish
👩🍳 Instructions:
Prepare pudding: Mix pudding mix with cold milk and let set for 5 minutes.
Whip the cream: Beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form (or use pre-made whipped topping).
Cube or crumble the cake/brownies into bite-sized pieces.
Assemble trifle in a glass bowl or trifle dish in layers:
Bottom layer: chocolate cake/brownie pieces
Second layer: chocolate pudding
Third layer: whipped cream
Fourth layer: fresh fruit
Repeat layers until ingredients are used up, finishing with whipped cream and fruit on top.
Top it off with chocolate shavings, fruit, or mint.
Chill in the fridge for 1–2 hours before serving for best flavor and texture (optional).
🍴 Tips:
Use clear trifle or glass bowls to showcase the beautiful layers.
Can be made the night before — just add the final fruit layer right before serving for freshness.
For a boozy twist, drizzle cake with a bit of coffee liqueur or fruit juice.
