Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks
“Crispy, Golden, and Melty – Perfectly Cooked Every Time!”
Ingredients (Makes 8–10 sticks):
-
8–10 mozzarella string cheese sticks
-
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
-
1 large egg
-
1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
-
1/2 tsp garlic powder
-
1/2 tsp onion powder
-
1/4 tsp dried oregano (optional)
-
Salt and pepper to taste
-
Cooking spray
Instructions:
-
Prep the Cheese Sticks
Cut mozzarella sticks in half (if desired for shorter sticks) and freeze them for at least 30 minutes. Freezing helps the cheese stay intact while cooking. -
Bread the Sticks
-
In a shallow bowl, add flour.
-
In a second bowl, beat the egg.
-
In a third bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
-
Coat each mozzarella stick first in flour, then dip into the beaten egg, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture. For extra crunch, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating process.
-
-
Preheat Air Fryer
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). -
Air Fry
Spray the basket with cooking spray and arrange the mozzarella sticks in a single layer. Lightly spray the tops of the sticks with cooking spray to help them crisp up. Air fry at 375°F for 6–8 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. -
Serve
Serve immediately with marinara sauce for dipping. Enjoy while the cheese is melty and gooey!
Tips:
-
Make sure the cheese sticks are frozen before cooking to prevent them from melting too fast and making a mess.
-
For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the breadcrumb mixture.
