🥛 Creamy Milk Cake (Inspired by Tres Leches)
A super moist sponge cake soaked in three kinds of milk and topped with whipped cream. Simple, sweet, and seriously irresistible.
🕒 Total Time: ~1 hour + chilling
Servings: 8–10
✨ Ingredients:
For the Cake:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
5 large eggs, separated
1 cup sugar (divided into 3/4 cup & 1/4 cup)
1/3 cup whole milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Milk Mixture:
1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup heavy cream (or whole milk for a lighter version)
For the Topping:
1 cup heavy cream
2 tbsp powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Optional: cinnamon, fresh fruit, or a drizzle of caramel
🔪 Directions:
1. Make the Cake:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13″ baking dish.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, beat egg yolks with 3/4 cup sugar until pale and thick. Stir in milk and vanilla.
Gently fold in the dry ingredients.
In a clean bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form, then add the remaining 1/4 cup sugar and beat until stiff peaks.
Fold egg whites into the batter gently until combined.
Pour into the pan and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
2. Soak the Cake:
Let cake cool completely, then poke holes all over the top with a fork or skewer.
In a bowl, mix evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and cream.
Slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, letting it soak in. Chill for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best flavor.
3. Whipped Topping:
Beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until fluffy.
Spread over the soaked cake.
🍰 Serve:
Slice and serve cold, topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon or fruit like strawberries or mango. It’s dreamy straight from the fridge.
