Cheeseburger Casserole Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup reduced-fat shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup reduced-fat shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional toppings: diced pickles, diced onions, shredded lettuce

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly coat a baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Stir in diced tomatoes, ketchup, mustard, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  5. Transfer the beef mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and shredded mozzarella cheese over the top of the beef mixture.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
  9. Garnish with optional toppings such as diced pickles, diced onions, and shredded lettuce, if desired.
