Cherry Bars Recipe!

Cherry Bars Recipe

Soft, sweet, and bursting with cherry flavor — a crowd-pleasing dessert you’ll make again and again!

📝 Ingredients:

For the Bars:

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

1¾ cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

½ tsp almond extract (optional for cherry-almond flavor)

3 cups all-purpose flour

1½ tsp baking powder

½ tsp salt

1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling

For the Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

1–2 tbsp milk

½ tsp vanilla or almond extract

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Prep Oven & Pan:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

2. Make the Batter:

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Mix in vanilla and almond extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture until combined.

3. Assemble the Bars:

Spread ⅔ of the batter evenly into the prepared pan.

Spoon the cherry pie filling evenly over the top.

Drop the remaining batter by spoonfuls over the cherry filling (it won’t cover it all — that’s okay).

4. Bake:

Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick comes out clean from the cake portion.

Cool completely in the pan.

5. Add Glaze:

Mix powdered sugar with milk and extract until smooth.

Drizzle over cooled bars. Let set, then slice and serve.

🍽️ Serving Tips:

Great for potlucks, brunch, or dessert trays.
