- 1 lb lean turkey sausage
- 8 oz light cream cheese, softened
- 2 tubes reduced-fat crescent roll dough (8 oz each)
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup reduced-fat shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- 1 egg, whisked (for brushing)
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the turkey sausage over medium heat until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into small pieces. Drain any excess grease.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, softened light cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir until evenly mixed. If using cheddar cheese, mix it in now.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
- Place a spoonful of the sausage mixture on the wide end of each triangle and roll it toward the narrow end, pressing the edges to seal.
- Arrange the croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the tops with the whisked egg for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the croissants are golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
