Ingredients:

  • 10 oz mozzarella string cheese (or 10 sticks)
  • 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Cayenne pepper (optional)

Directions:

  1. Begin by cutting the string cheese sticks into bite-sized pieces on a cutting board.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk the eggs. Add the milk and whisk again to create an egg mixture.
  3. Set up two additional bowls—one with flour and the other with bread crumbs. Arrange them in a line: flour, egg mixture, bread crumbs.
  4. Take each cheese piece and coat it first in flour, then in the egg mixture, and finally in the bread crumbs. Make sure each piece is evenly coated.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet to 350°F. You can test the oil’s readiness by using a wooden spoon handle—bubbles should form around it when placed in the oil.
  6. Fry 5-7 cheese bites at a time for about 30 seconds, making sure they don’t stick together. They should turn a lovely golden brown.
  7. Using a slotted spoon, remove the bites from the skillet and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  8. Repeat the frying process with the remaining cheese bites.
  9. Serve your hot and crispy mozzarella bites immediately, either with your favorite pasta sauce for dipping or enjoy them as they are.

Quick and Enjoyable

With just a 15-minute total time, these mozzarella bites are a quick and easy snack or appetizer to prepare. They are perfect for any occasion, whether you’re entertaining guests or want to treat yourself to a cheesy delight. The crispy bread crumb coating complements the gooey and stretchy mozzarella perfectly, creating a delightful taste experience.
