Easy Doritos Taco Salad


  • 1 lb lean ground turkey or chicken (extra lean ground beef can also be used)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix (look for low-sodium or homemade for a healthier option)
  • 1 head iceberg lettuce, chopped
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup reduced-fat shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup crushed Doritos (use baked or reduced-fat Doritos for a healthier option)
  • 1/2 cup light Catalina dressing (look for a lower sugar or sugar-free option)
  • Optional toppings: diced avocado, sliced black olives, diced red onion


  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground turkey or chicken until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add the taco seasoning mix to the cooked meat according to package instructions. Stir well to combine, then remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped lettuce, cherry tomatoes, shredded cheese, and crushed Doritos.
  4. Add the cooked taco meat to the salad mixture and toss gently to combine.
  5. Drizzle the Catalina dressing over the salad and toss again to coat evenly.
  6. If desired, add optional toppings such as diced avocado, sliced black olives, or diced red onion.
